Getting, and Staying, on Track in 4 Easy Steps!

Hello reader,

Do you ever stop and wonder “why am I like this?” I know I do. Today, specifically, this intrusive thought came about when I thought back to my blog, er, lack there of really.

It’s always been a dream of mine to have a blog…that and a million other things, too! But why can’t I ever stick to it? Whether its starting something new, or reigniting a former passion, if you’re in a similar boat with a habit or hobby, and are wondering how to combat this, read on below.

Step One: Make a Plan

No really, make one. Chances are, you’ve made one before, but this time make it more realistic. You know, something that you know that you’ll be able to feasibly incorporate into your daily life. I have a full time job, a part time job, and 2 side hustles on top of that, not including blogging. So what works for someone else, with a much more open schedule, might not work for me. Rather than comparing your situation to someone else’s, think about what you’re currently able to do. Maybe you do have a lot of time, but you’re still not sure you can actively commit it to something new, that’s okay! You can start small and build up to it.

Step Two: Create Reminders

Really, do it, create those reminders, in any way that benefits you. If you’re the person with a million sticky notes on your fridge, but you manage to get everything done—do it that way. If you’re able to set reminders on your phone and don’t absentmindedly swipe them away like any other notification (oops), do it that way! If it takes writing it on your bathroom mirror, go for it. Anything that is going to remind you to stick with the plan you just created is fair game.

Step Three: Implement It!

This one might seem like common sense, but all too often too many of us hold ourselves back for one reason or another! Maybe you don’t feel ready, maybe you think that you need to “wait for a better time,” well I’m here to tell you that you are ready and you don’t need to wait! There is no time like the present, why put off for tomorrow what can be done today?

Step Four: Keep It Up

You’ve already done the hard part of getting started, and you don’t want to let that hard prep work go to waste! Keep at it and continue on with new hobby or habit.

And there you go, four quick and realistic steps to starting a new hobby or habit. As the saying goes, “it always seems impossible until it’s done,” so until you just jump in there and start, it will forever seem impossible or something that is distant and unattainable. For accountability, you can expect my next blog post on Monday, June 21st.

Until next time,
